Defective Floormats Suspected In Fatal Car Accident

In recent San Diego car accident news an off-duty California highway patrol officer and his family died in a car accident when the accelerator on the Lexus they were in reportedly got stuck.  After further investigation, the cause of the car crash was caused when the accelerator was trapped by a floormat.

Our car accident lawyers know that nothing is made perfectly.  Car accidents are caused by design defects every year, many of which could have been prevented if only car manufacturers had thoroughly tested their products for safety.  Unfortunately this particular design defect in the cars’ floormats led to the untimely wrongful deaths of four family members.

The car was a loaner from Bob Baker Lexus El Cajon, equipped with “all-weather” floor mats, which were designed for Lexus vehicles made between 2004 and 2009.  All-weather mats were installed in 2007 and 2008 models of the Lexus ES 350.  These same mats were recalled by Toyota in November 2007 because of complaints that if the mats were not properly installed they could slide forward and trap the gas pedal.

Our car accident lawyers know that design defects are one of the top causes of car accidents.  If only car manufacturers would spend more time worrying about potential defective products that can cause you harm.

If you or a loved one have been involved in a car accident, hiring an experienced car accident lawyer can help ease any pain and suffering you may be going through.
