Angels Pitcher Killed By Drunk Driver

In a sad moment for sports, Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a fatal car accident in the early morning hours of April 9, 2009, along with two others in Fullerton, California.

Just hours after the young 22-year-old pitcher pitched against the Oakland Athletics, Adenhart was killed while coming home from a nightclub but only made it one block before the car accident occurred.

Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver at the age of 22.

Our firm’s drunk-driving accident lawyers know that car crashes that are a result of driving under the influence of alcohol take too many lives every year.  In this case, a young pitcher of a Major League team was killed before his career could get started, not mention that his DUI driving put others in danger.

Adenhart battled back from major elbow surgery to get back into the major leagues, but this car accident tragically ended his career and his life.  Here is another case of a young man who was taken in his prime of life, and unfortunately, there is no comeback from an accident like this.

The young Angels pitcher’s wrongful death occurred when he was hit by a minivan that was broadsided in an intersection shortly after midnight.  Results from first tests indicated that the driver of the minivan had a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08.  Adenhart died in surgery at the Irvine Medical Center along with his two passengers.

Our experienced drunk-driving accident lawyers know that driving is a “privilege,” not a “right,” no matter how much money you make or your status in society.  They are always saddened, too, that this kinds of cases keep on happening when there are so many ways to prevent drunk-driving from occurring.
