Personal Injury From Antipsychotic Drug Seroquel
According to information from the case, marketing executives at AstraZeneca PLC, a British drug maker, tried to block company scientists to raise concerns about the antipsychotic drug Seroquel citing concerns that informing side effects leading to personal injury would harm sales.
Lawyers for the people bringing lawsuits on AstraZeneca say their claim is supported by internal documents released on May 20, 2009 as part of the lawsuits brought by patients who say personal injury occurred from use of the drug.
Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys know new drugs are being produced and sold to consumers every year. All new drugs have their side effects, and those side effects need to be told to patients who are receiving the drug.
New or old prescription drugs have the same effects on two major organs: the liver and the kidney. The liver is responsible for processing the drugs, and the kidney’s job is to process waste that comes from pharmaceutical treatments. New drugs can lead to liver or kidney disease which can cause wrongful death.
Side effects of Seroquel include weight gain and other problems including constipation and dry mouth. More serious side effects include a rapid heart rate which can lead to a heart attack which can lead to wrongful death.
What if you are on Seroquel while behind the wheel of a car? A heart attack can cause difficulty driving temporarily and lead to a car accident leading to whiplash, spinal cord injuries causing paralysis (i.e. paraplegia and quadriplegia) as well as traumatic brain injuries like concussions.
AstraZeneca faces about 15,000 personal injury lawsuits over Seroquel. 60 percent of them are in state courts.
Our personal injury lawyers in San Diego know that new drugs cause personal injury and wrongful death every year. New drugs should always be tested and side effects must be told to consumers before dangerous drugs are given to patients that can result in harmful side effects leading to personal injury or wrongful death.

my husband was 33 and passed away of a complete Aortic dissection, the main artery from the heart tore open from the heart to the renal arteries. He was taking seroquel for about 2 years. A great deal of odd interesting things came up at autopsy and from my attorney. Do you think the seroquel could have contributed??

My condolences on the passing of your husband. Assume you’re trying to determine if this tragedy was a wrongful death. As personal injury attorneys, would strongly recommend that you speak with a qualified medical doctor … . Sincerely, Michael Pines
