A mistake by a pharmacy in Florida has caused the wrongful death of 21 horses from Venezuela that were flown in for a polo match. A supplement is blamed for the pharmaceutical medical malpractice in the horse wrongful deaths.
Our firm’s San Diego personal injury attorneys believe humans and animals should not be treated differently, as this could have easily happened to an innocent member of the public. When a pharmacy prescribes improper dosage medication (such as too much or too little of a drug), the pharmacy should be held responsible in pharmaceutical medical malpractice lawsuits.
The 21 horses were getting prepared for a championship match. Shortly after they were injected with the supplement that caused the pharmaceutical medical malpractice, they started falling to the ground as people at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, Florida watched.
The pharmacy in Ocala, Florida known as Franck’s Pharmacy later conducted an investigation and has confirmed that “the strength of an ingredient in the medication was incorrect.” The wrong ingredient led to the wrongful deaths of the horses.
The drug given to the horses is only described as a mixture of vitamins and minerals similar to that of a multivitamin for humans. The University Of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine believes it has found what killed the horses, but a state review is necessary before results are released.
Our personal injury attorneys in San Diego realize pharmaceutical malpractice mistakes happen in human drug treatments as well as animal treatments. Usually, prescription, even non-prescription drugs can have all types of unintended consequences, from a personal injury to a wrongful death. Legally we believe an injured person’s first step is to hire an experienced personal injury lawyer.
