Italian Sausage Recalled Due To Product Liability Concerns

Posted in Products Liability, Monday, March 8th, 2010

The Washington Post has reported that a Daniele International has recalled a shipment of Italian sausage that used an imported black pepper believed to have had traces of salmonella in it.  225 in 44 states and the District of Columbia have reported illnesses.

Our firm’s personal injury attorneys in San Diego believe that you should never risk eating a food product that has been recalled because if it is associated with product liability, then that means it is dangerous.  Even if you do not eat any of the sausage or salami being recalled, yet keep it in your kitchen and around kids, who is to say that it couldn’t inadvertently cause children’s injuries to your young ones?

No wrongful deaths have been reported from those who have eaten the meat products, but an estimated 26 percent sought medical treatment for themselves after falling ill.  In March, 2009 white and black pepper with salmonella was found to be the culprit behind 42 people’s illness, prompting Union International Food of California to initiate a food recall on the pepper.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention discovered that 1.2 million pounds of ready-to-eat salami was contaminated with salmonella and recalled by Daniele Internation on January 22, 2010.  The Rhode Island company explained the recall on February 4, 2010 to include 23,754 extra pounds of salami products.

The personal injury lawyers at our firm urge you to take place in the recall and to return all products that you believe could be harmful when ingested.  Though it is never a good thing to waste food, it is far worse to eat something that might make you very sick.

For more information on the recall and what you can do, call (888) 345-4160 or visit Daniele International’s website and click on the FAQs.

Call us now at 1-800-655-6585 or click here for a free consultation with an experienced personal injury attorney and find out how we can help you.  We speak English and Spanish, and we look forward to providing advice for your case.  There is no fee if no recovery.

Dollar General Recalls Toy Guns With Design Defect

Posted in Products Liability, Friday, February 5th, 2010

As it turns out, toy guns might be just as dangerous as real guns.

On February 3, 2010, the New York Times reported that Dollar General announced a recall of toy guns that have a design defect which poses a choking hazard to children.  The irony?  The dangerous piece in question is the part that is meant to distinguish the toy gun from an actual firearm.

So far, no childrens injuries or fatal choking accidents have been documented in conjunction with this product liability, but our firm’s personal injury attorneys in San Diego  know that just because an accident hasn’t happened yet does not mean a personal injury or wrongful death won’t happen in the future. Salmonella Outbreak Prompts FDA To Recall Dog Treats

Posted in Products Liability, Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted once as saying, “It’s not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight that’s in the dog.”  Smart words to live by.  This saying is found on the website for Merrick Pet Care products and has taken on a slightly different meaning since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has partnered with the company to make sure a product of their’s does not affect the future of dogs and their fight within them.

In January, 2010, the FDA recalled Merrick’s 10-Ounce Beef Square dog treats due to a product liability concern that the pet snack was contiminated with salmonella.  Currently, the Merrick and the government branch are working to help consumers return the tainted items, as well as spread the word about the danger associated with a certain shipment of the treats. Veterinary Drug Recall Becomes Bigger Problem

Posted in Products Liability, Friday, January 22nd, 2010

If you’re a pet owner, you may treat your pet like you would treat a child.  You’d do anything to make sure it’s healthy.

But what if a drug used to treat your pet was recalled for products liability reasons and no one knew about it?

On September 4, 2009, two veterinary drugs made by Teva Animal Health, Inc., a division of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, were recalled by the FDA, but in the latest details of the recall, few vets or pet owners knew about it until the end of December.  The deaths of five cats led the Food and Drug Administration to issue recall notices on December 22 and December 29, but information about what products are involved and over what period of time they were manufactured isn’t clear. Posted in Products Liability, Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Importing goods from other countries continues to be a major part of the economy.  Some goods are simply made better overseas rather than here in the states, but there are other times where importing isn’t the best idea because of products liability risks.
